The Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) lays down uniform rules for the use of artificial intelligence across the entire European Union and in a range of areas, including recruitment and everyday HR processes. Employers should therefore examine the specific impact this Regulation has on their HR departments (and beyond). Some of the systems in use may in fact be high-risk, or even prohibited – below, we summarise the basic rules for identifying such systems and for how to approach them in practice.
